One of the most legendary music venues in the United States, and probably the entire world, is the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater. Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater tickets are like passes to another planet, and trips to this ethereal concert hall are a must for any live music fan.

It all began in 1906, when visionary John Brisben Walker began producing small shows on an improvised stage in a rock outcropping in Colorado. The huge stones, part of the bedrock Fountain Formation of Colorado and Wyoming, formed a natural amphitheatre with incredible acoustics. Their towering presence and isolation from civilization contributed to their otherworldly atmosphere and would lend a spiritual presence to whatever band was playing within their structure. In 1927, the city of Denver bought the land from Walker and renovated his original structure into a much more commercial outfit. Construction crews were extremely diligent in their preservation of the spot and managed to update the Amphitheater’s sound system and capacity without damaging the vibe of the original.

Construction finished in 1941 and ushered in an era of massive shows and renowned musical artists. One of the earliest big name performances was by the Beatles in 1964, during their legendary US tour. U2 also performed their biggest concert at Red Rocks, and their concert video, “Live at Red Rocks: Under a Blood Red Sky,” remains one of the greatest in the band’s illustrious history. “Under a Blood Red Sky” paved the way for other famous Red Rocks recordings and videos, such as Dave Matthews Band’s “Live at Red Rocks 8.15.95” and Neil Young’s “Road Rock Vol. 1.”
