Nicknamed “the Showplace of the Nation,” Radio City Music Hall is one of the most famous venues in the United States. The infamous theater opened its doors to the public 1932 in New York City, New York. Located at Rockefeller Center in midtown Manhattan, it was almost named the International Music Hall. While known for its live theater, the venue has hosted the Harry Potter film premieres, Jeopardy, Saturday Night Live and the Grammies. It’s among the top centers of entertainment in New York City, and thousands of Americans travel to New York for Radio City Music Hall concert tickets each year.

The Showplace of the Nation seats 5,931 people, becoming largest movie theater in the world when it first opened. Edward Durell Stone, famous for designing the exterior of the Museum of Modern Art and the Stanford Medical Center, designed the Radio City Music Hall. Interior designer Donald Deskey used aluminum, chrome, glass, intricate carpets and lights, to give the theater an Art Deco feel.

On its opening day in December of 1932, the Radio City Music Hall put on an extravagant show featuring performers Martha Graham, Doc Rockwell and Ray Bolger. Today, it is most known to Americans for its performances around the Holiday Season. Each year, it hosts the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular, and has been home to the women’s dance team The Rockettes since 1933. Most recently, the Fray and Daniel Tosh have both performed at the venue, which also hosts an annual Christmas show produced by MSG Entertainment that is extremely well known for its intricacy, class and dance techniques.
