The Colonial Life Arena, located in Columbia South Carolina, is an 18,000 seat multi-purpose showground, which hosts multiple concerts, graduations, trade shows, and numerous conferences each year. Originally named the Carolina Coliseum, renamed the Carolina Center in 2002, the Colonial Life Arena took on its final name in July of 2008. It is the largest arena in South Carolina and home to the University of South Carolina’s men and women’s basketball teams. However, the venue hosts more than just numerous popular basketball games. The Colonial Life Arena has hosted Disney on Ice, American Idol Live, Circus events, and tens of thousands of South Carolina patrons purchase concert tickets to the Colonial Life Arena each year.

The Colonial Life Arena is known in South Carolina for bringing in big name entertainment. It has hosted concerts for Elton John, Britney Spears, Billy Joel, Journey, Carrie Underwood, Miley Cyrus, Def Leopard, Pearl Jam, Cher, and The Eagles. In 2006, the arena also began to host World Wrestling tournaments that air for television syndication and numerous commencements for graduation ceremonies for students in South Carolina schools. George W. Bush was the very first commencement speaker at the Colonial Center in 2003.

Attendees of the Colonial Life Arena say it is a big and beautiful arena that is very clean and well maintained. Concertgoers say the concert experience is always thrilling, and it is a “top notch auditorium.” Patrons say the seats are comfy, the sound system is great, and a four-sided video system in the center of the arena makes it easy for everyone to get a view of the show, no matter where in the theater they are.
