The American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, is the quintessential location for live sports and musical performances in the Lone Star State. The American Airlines Center was born out of a necessity for the Dallas Mavericks and the Stars in the late 90s. Both teams were enjoying wild successes and felt that they had outgrown their previous home of the Reunion Arena. A deal was struck, and the proposed new building was funded with a combination of resident tax increases and pooled money from the two professional sports teams. The ambitious project was completed in 1998 and had its naming rights bought by American Airlines just one year after. Its impressive architectural design was lauded by critics worldwide, earning it distinctions like the International Excellence in Masonry award in 2001 and the Top Dog Venue of the Year award in 2003.
