Wiz Khalifa released Show and Prove on an independent label, and the album has sold over 10,000 copies and has over one million digital listens on last.fm, a music listening site. A year after the release of his debut album, Wiz Khalifa signed with Warner Bros. Records. Under the label, he released two mixtapes and the single “Say Yeah” that reached 25 on the Billboard chart. He left Warner Bros. Records in July 2009, after becoming disgruntled with the delays in the release of his debut album on the label. He reverted back to the independent label that releases his first album, Rostrum Records.

He released his second album, Deal or No Deal, in November 2009 and performed as part of the 2010 South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas. Around that time, a download search for his single “Kush and Orange Juice” was number one on Google’s hot search trends. In 2010, he signed with Atlantic Records and released Rolling Papers shortly thereafter. The single from the album, “Black and Yellow,” peaked at number one, and the album debuted at #2 on the Billboard charts, selling almost 200,000 copies in the United States its first week. In 2011, the artist won the American Music Award for Sprint’s Best New Artist.
