The duo attracted attention with the release of their first two 12” releases and with their debut release, 1997’s Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi. Since their 1997 album, Thievery Corporation released three more albums, but it wasn’t until their 2006 release Versions that demand for the band really took off. 2006 was a huge year for the duo, not only did they release Versions, which is a selection of Thievery Corporation remixes done for other artists, but they played Lollapalooza, were featured in a photo book, and recorded an AIDS benefit album.
The group considers world music to be a major influence on their own sound, and they have written music in Spanish, English, French, Persian, Portuguese, Romanian and Hindi throughout the years. In 2010, Eric Hilton tried his hand at film editing, and the film Babylon Central was released. The film, set and shot in Washington D.C., follows tripwire events in the lives of its characters, who are all interconnected.
In 2011, the artists released their sixth studio album, Culture of Fear, and in 2012, the duo launched a re-mix contest in conjunction with Dubspot. The duo consistently tours and plays festivals and events across the country. The next time they play an event near you, head to ConcertTickets.com for your Thievery Corporation concert tickets!
