Seether is a post-grunge heavy metal rock band from South Africa. The group formed in 1999 under the name Word Vomit and changed their name in 2002 upon signing with Musketeer Records. The name change coincided with the release of their second album and major label debut Disclaimer. Although most would assume a band from South Africa would have little success in America, the exact opposite is true. Thousands of fans purchase concert tickets for Seether each year from ticket vendors similar to ConcertTickets.com.
After the release of their major label debut, the group toured non-stop in the hopes of building a fan-base and expanding the reach of the band. In response to the success they experienced on tour, especially in recording a song with Amy Lee of the group Evanescence, Seether released Disclaimer II, which is essentially the original album with many songs re-mastered or re-recorded, along with eight extra tracks. This album was released in 2004. Their follow-up album, Karma and Effect, was released in 2005 and has been certified gold in the United States and Canada. Their fourth release, Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces, debuted at number nine and sold 57,000 copies its first week. Their most recent release, 2011’s Holding onto Strings Better Left to Fray fared better on the charts and debuted at number two on the Billboard 200.
In addition to their five album discography, Seether has released two digital albums. Both were released in 2008, one being an iTunes Originals and the other being a Rhapsody Originals. The next time this group announces a tour, head to ConcertTickets.com for your Seether concert tickets!
