The more recent album featured “Bohemian Rhapsody,” one of the band’s most popular songs. “Bohemian Rhapsody” stayed at the number one position on the UK Singles Chart for nine weeks and was the band’s first top ten hit on the Billboard Charts. The band, known for their amazing stage presence and the almost operatic voice of Freddie Mercury, incited thousands to purchase concert tickets for Queen throughout the tours of their career.
The band has released a total of eighteen number one albums, eighteen number one singles, and ten number one DVDs. Total, they have sold over 150 million albums, with some estimating over 300 million albums, making them the one of the world’s best-selling artists. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
Freddie Mercury, the legendary singer of the classic rock band, died of AIDS in 1991. Although his impeccable voice was a driving force of the band, the group stayed together. They have since embarked on several world tours and celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2011. In October 2011, it was stated that Queen would release a new album with lost demos of Mercury on vocals. American Idol sensation Adam Lambert will perform with the band in Moscow’s Olympic Stadium in June 2012.
