Their debut album, Hybrid Theory, was certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America and continues to be a popular album to this day. It was one of the best-selling albums of 2001 and sold almost 5 million copies during its debut year. The album won one Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance and was nominated for two more Grammy awards that year. Their second album, Meteora, was released in 2003 and produced similar results. This album is the most successful album in the history of the Modern Rock Tracks chart, which tracks radio play of alternative songs. The album has sold over eleven million copies worldwide as of 2007 and ranked on Billboard’s Hot 200 Albums of the Decade.
A shift in the group’s musical direction began after the release of their 2003 album. The shift was first noticed when their third studio album Minutes to Midnight was released in 2007. Although the band obviously strayed away from their more nu-metal sound, the album debuted at number one and went on to sell 625,000 copies its first week. The album has been certified double platinum. Their most recent release was 2010’s A Thousand Suns. The multi-concept album was met with mixed reviews but debuted at number one on the charts and has since been certified gold by the RIAA.
Although there is no release date, a fifth album is in the works. When the band releases the album and tours in support, be sure to head to ConcertTickets.com to purchase your concert tickets for Linkin Park.
