Ke$ha is an American pop singer-songwriter and rapper who was signed to Dr. Luke’s record label and publishing company in 2005. Although she sang background vocals and wrote songs for other artists, she didn’t receive solo mainstream attention until 2009 when she made an appearance on Flo Rida’s hit “Right Round.” Shortly after, Ke$ha released her debut album and has been performing for crowds of fans who purchase their concert tickets for Ke$ha in haste.

Her 2010 debut release Animal debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 Charts and was certified platinum in the United States within nine months of release. The first single from the album, “Tik Tok,” topped the charts in eleven countries and set the record for most digital downloads of a female artist. The song became the second best-selling single in a week after “Right Round.” It spent nine weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the longest running number one song by a female artist on her debut album since Debby Boone in 1977. Needless to say, the song was a mega-hit and brought the young star much attention and publicity. In November of 2010, Animal was re-released with a companion album, Cannibal. Seven months later, the set was certified gold.

Ke$ha has been nominated for over thirty awards and has won six including Best New Act at the 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards and five Billboard Awards the same year.
