Born in Macon, Georgia, in 1977, country singer and guitarist Jason Aldean performed for the first time at a Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) hall, at the tender age of fourteen. He became a regular at local talent contests and joined the Nashville South house band. After Aldean graduated from high school, he started to pursue his career in the music industry full time, with the help of his booking-agent father, and played college towns throughout the Southeast and Eastern coast. In 1996, he went to Nashville to record a self-financed eight-song CD, and after signing with Warner-Chapell Publishing in ’98, he called Music City home.

Aldean’s success was short-lived, however, as a series of recording deals fell through. In 2005, down on his luck and on the verge of returning to Georgia, the singer signed with independent label Broken Bow Records and released his debut album Jason Aldean, with the smash hit “Hicktown” shortly thereafter. “Hicktown” would become Aldean’s first Top 10 single, but that wasn’t his only success from his freshman album… Jason was named Top Male Vocalist by the Academy of Country Music.

His 2007 sophomore album Relentless featured the hit song “Johnny Cash.” Aldean followed that up in 2009 with Wide Open and in 2010 with My Kinda Party, which debuted at No. 2 and rose to the top ranking, where it stayed for several weeks in 2011. His 2011 duet with Kelly Clarkson, “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” became a major success. The single topped the Billboard Country charts, sending his album platinum and garnering him a Grammy nomination.
