During its early years, the group built a fan-base locally and released their self-titled album in 2000. Although this was the start of their music career, the group didn’t achieve mainstream success until after the release of their 2002 album The Young and the Hopeless. This album has sold almost five million copies worldwide and eventually went on to achieve triple platinum status. Chronicles of Life and Death was released in 2004 and received mixed reactions from fans, critics, and the press. It sold just over two million copies and is considered a departure from their previous direction. Good Morning Revival, released in 2007, did not “suffer” a similar fate. This album is one of the most successful Good Charlotte albums, selling 4.5 million copies and sparking a series of live television performances nationwide. Their most recent album was 2010’s Cardiology. As of October 2011, it sold just over 50,000 copies. They’ve been nominated for twenty awards and have won eight, including a handful of MTV Video Awards and an Australian Kids Choice Award.
