He received five Young Artist Award nominations for his role on the show, including Best Ensemble in a TV series in 2002.
The actor turned performer has made his mark on the hip hop world, releasing his first album, Thank Me Later, in June of 2010. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and has since gone platinum.
Drake began his singing career in 2006 and later signed with Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment in June of 2009. Since signing on with Young Money, Drake has worked with hip hop legends Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Eminem, and Rick Ross. He has also written for several other artists in the industry, including Jamie Foxx and Alicia Keys.
Drake won Track of the Year for his single “Every Girl,” in 2009, and was also awarded Rookie of the Year at the BET Hip Hop Awards. In 2010, Drake received forty-one nominations, winning eight, including Best Male Hip-Hop Artist and Best Group with Young Money, at the BET Awards. He has won three MuchMusic Video Awards, two Juno Awards, two Teen Choice Awards, a Soul Train Music Award and a Young Artist Award.
Drake has been nominated for the Grammy’s three consecutive years for his singles “Moment 4 Life,” “I’m On One” and “What’s My Name” in 2010; “Over,” “Fancy” and “Thank Me Later” in 2011; and for his song “Best I Ever Had,” in 2012.
