Dr. Dog is an indie rock band from West Grove, Pennsylvania. Each member of the band has a nickname, which is drawn from their own personal, day-to-day life. The band’s version of pop-rock, especially the importance placed on harmonies and multiple members of the band acting as the singer, are drawn from music popular in the 1960s.  This unique attribution brought attention early on in the band’s career, and even as early as their first few releases, concert tickets for Dr. Dog were a hot commodity.

The group had humble early years, spent touring locally and building up a fan-base. In 2004, My Morning Jacket invited them on tour, and this brought much-deserved attention to the group. A New York Times music critic commented on and praised Dr. Dog’s debut album, causing other critics and record labels to pay attention to the band. In 2005, Dr. Dog signed with a label, released Easy Beat, and completed their first cross country tour.

By 2006, the group had begun using more complex and sophisticated recording equipment, and this growth and maturation could clearly be heard on their 2007 album, We All Belong. In support of this album, the group performed on Late Night With David Letterman, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and the Late Show with Craig Ferguson. In 2009, the group signed with a new label, and in 2010, Dr. Dog released their fifth album Shame, Shame. Their most recent release, Be The Void, was first available on Conan O’Brien’s website, and the group performed on his show in February 2012.
