Cream was ranked number sixteen on VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock, and they were named the sixty-sixth greatest artists of all time by Rolling Stone. VH1 also ranked them #61 on their 100 Greatest Artists of All Time list in 2010. Although the band has only been active for four years (1966-1968, 1993, and 2005), the band has sold over 15 million albums worldwide. Cream broke up in 1968, probably due to the competitive nature of the three musicians and the rivalry between Bruce and Ginger.

In 1993, Cream re-formed, to perform at their induction ceremony, to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It marked the first time the group had performed together in 25 years, and a mini reunion tour followed. In 2005, the group, once again, re-formed to perform a string of concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, in London. Cream concert tickets, for these concerts, sold out in under an hour. This short tour proved to be so successful, it persuaded Cream to play at Madison Square Garden in New York. The shows were financial mega-successes and received critical praise.
