The Formation of a Mega Band

The seeds that created the Coldplay we know today were first planted in 1996, when lead singer Chris Martin met lead guitarist Jonny Buckland at University College London. Since, the band has won seven Grammy Awards and sold over 50 million records. After the release of their major label debut album Parachutes in 2000, recognition of the band’s ability to create emotionally stimulating music began to wash over the American public.

Worldwide Domination

Each subsequent release created more and more buzz and positive reviews. In 2009, they were nominated for seven Grammy’s and received three. Their most recent album, Mylo Xyloto, has sold over six million albums since its release in late 2011.
