His hit-single from the album, “Run It!,” topped the Billboard 200 and made him the first male solo artist to have his debut single top the charts since Puff Daddy in 1997. This instant success catapulted the pop singer into almost instant famedom, and he quickly became accustomed to performing in front of sold out crowds, who had purchased their concert tickets for Chris Brown well in advance.

His debut album went on to sell two million copies and was certified platinum by the RIAA. This success was just the beginning for Chris Brown, who has quickly become a best-selling artist. In 2007, his second album was released. Exclusive also topped the charts and has also been certified Platinum. His third album Graffiti was released in 2009 and debuted at number seven on the charts. It has become his third-consecutive top ten debut in the United States. Around the time of this album’s release, Chris Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting Rihanna and went on to be sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community service. Although this negatively affected his career at the time, Chris Brown bounced back with the release of 2011s F.A.M.E., which earned him a Grammy Award for Best R&B Album at the 54th Grammy Awards.
