Dion began singing pop as a young teen in Canada, and she released her first album, with the help of her manager and future husband, Rene Angelil. She released her first English album to the US in 1990, making her official debut to the United States and gaining a following in many other English-speaking countries.

Celine Dion gained international fame in the 1990’s, after singing with Epic Records and releasing both English and French speaking albums. She has sold over 200 million albums worldwide and is regarded as one of pop’s most influential voices. Although the star says she is a mezzo-soprano, her powerful voice is able to reach a five-octave vocal range. Along with popular stars, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, Celine Dion is described as being one of the 1990’s reigning female pop powerhouses.
