Ashanti’s debut self-titled album was released in 2002. The singer was active in the songwriting and producing process, and the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 Chart. The first week sales were impressive, and the album was certified Platinum. The album earned Ashanti three Grammy nominations, in addition to two other Grammy nominations for other projects. Chapter II, Ashanti’s second album, also debuted at number one. The album had impressive sales, was certified Platinum, and garnered the star three more Grammy nominations. Although 2004’s Concrete Rose didn’t perform as well on the charts, it was still certified Platinum. The artist's fourth studio album, The Declaration, was released in 2008, marking Ashanti’s last album on Irv Gotti’s label, The Inc. Records. The album peaked at number six. Ashanti’s most recent release was 2012’s Braveheart.
Throughout her career, Ashanti was nominated for a number of awards for her contributions to music.
